Mumbai Rains, IMD Weather Forecast Mumbai Highlights:  Eknath Shinde cabinet today has approved the renaming of Aurangabad to Chattrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had said on Friday that the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government’s decision to rename Aurangabad, when it had been reduced to minority, was illegal, and will be ratified in the Cabinet meeting presided by him.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government had announced the renaming of Aurangabad in central Maharashtra as “Sambhajinagar” — after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s elder son Chhatrapati Sambhaji — during its last cabinet meeting on June 29, hours before Thackeray resigned.
In other news, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Saturday has predicted moderate rain in the city of Mumbai. “Possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places. Occasional strong winds with speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely,” IMD said. Also, rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of 102 persons across Maharashtra so far during the ongoing monsoon season, the state disaster management authority said in a report on Friday. These figures are between June 1 and July 14, it said.
