Maharashtra crisis: Shiv Sena workers vandalise rebel MLA Tanaji Sawant’s office in Pune

Shiv Sena workers from Pune attacked the office of party’s rebel Tanaji Sawant in Katraj area of the city on Saturday. A former minister, Sawant is MLA from Paranda Vidhan Sabha constituency in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra. He is among the rebels who have joined Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
Sawant runs the Bhairavnath Sugar Work Limited Company, having factories in different parts of the state, and a registered office at Katraj in Pune.
Vishal Dhanawde, a Shiv Sena corporator from Pune, and other activists of the party ransacked the Katraj office around 11am. They shouted slogans against Sawant, calling him a traitor, and blaming him for the ongoing rebellion.
On receiving information about the attack, Pune city police teams rushed to the spot to control the situation. Reacting to the attack, Tanaji Sawant said in a Facebook post in Marathi, “We are patient due to orders from our leader Eknath Shinde. We will [give a ] tit for tat reply once this political issue is resolved. It is my humble request to (vandals) to stay within their limits.”
Talking about the incident, DCP Sagar Patil said, “Sawant’s sugar factory office was attacked between 10.30 am and 11 am. We are registering a case in this connection and instructions to take further action have been given to the local police officials.”
